Coconut Oil Hair Treatment
Coconut oil is by far one of the most effective and natural treatments when it comes to pretty much any hair issues. It is claimed that coconut oil is far superior to any man made products, and I have to agree because it is 100% natural, and contains no alcohol or silicones, much like other hair products. Those other products can harm sensitive skin and hair, which is why I and many other people don’t recommend using them. Coconut oil also works very well for repairing damaged hair from the heat or hair that is just naturally dry. It is a great product to use for maintaining or repairing your hair, best used on a regular routine, around 1 to 4 times per month.
Don’t think that coconut oil is some magical substance that is hard to find because it is in fact pretty much in everywhere drug and grocery store around. Once you find it, just know that it works great for reconditioning, improving the health, and shine of your hair. Unlike most other hair products, coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft, moisturizing and preventing damage from the inside out. The main essential and beneficial vitamins and other minerals in coconut oil, include lauric acid, caprice acid, and vitamin E, all of which help structure and improve the strength of your hair by reducing the loss of protein. Most people that use coconut oil for hair treatment, including me, report that their hair has more shine, looks fuller, and has less breakage and tangling.
If you’re looking to deep condition your hair with coconut oil, you’re in luck because it is great at doing just that. To start, you want to mix in a couple tablespoons of the product into your dampened hair and scalp. If your hair is longer you may want to use a couple more tablespoons and use it where your hair is the most dry and less where you hair seems happy and healthy. If the coconut oil you’re using is in more of a solid state, then you may want to heat it up to create a liquid. After applying the coconut oil, you’re going to want to wait 20-30 minutes then cover it up and heat it with a hair dryer for just a few minutes. Once that is done you probably want to go ahead and wash your hair to get the oil out.
If you’re looking to use coconut oil as a moisturizer or detangler, you’re going to want to use a very small amount on the ends of your hair after showering.
To use coconut oil as a dandruff treatment, rub a small amount onto your scalp and let it sit from anywhere from 10 minutes to overnight. If you’re going to leave it in overnight be sure to wear a shower cap or wrap a towel around your hair before going to bed.
If your hair is over-processed from various hair products, damaged, or just unhealthy you may want to consider using coconut oil as a solution. Since everyone’s hair is a little different you may want to try and see what works for you by experimenting with various aspects of the hair treatment.
