Coconut Oil for Healthy Skin
Coconut oil is becoming more and more common each day with its hundreds of beneficial uses. It’s getting name dropped as one of the most useful and healthy products on the market today. A year ago not many people knew about it, but today it’s on every grocery store shelf and in pretty much any E-Commerce store. Coconut oil for skin is one of the most beneficial and health conscious uses of the product, and if you would like to know why then read on.
There are tons of uses for coconut oil, but the most common are as a moisturizing face cream, conditioner, and a beach scented body lotion. Those are just cosmetic ways, but there are also internal uses, such as increasing your metabolism rate and increasing your immunity.
Coconut oil for skin is much better than the average moisturizer and body lotion because it doesn’t contain water, which can cause your skin to feel as though it’s getting moisturized, but once that water dries, your skin does as well. Other moisturizers contain petroleum which can block the pores in your skin from absorbing moisture, another downside that can negatively affect your skin. Unlike those types of moisturizers, coconut oil is actually very beneficial for your skin because it provides real moisture that is effective. It strengthens the underlying tissue and helps get rid of dead skin cells that cause your skin to become rough and flaky.
To get the most use out of coconut oil for your skin, you want to rub about a penny sized amount on your face and other areas of your body. A spoonful should be enough to cover your entire body in coconut oil so don’t go overboard. A little goes a long way! You may notice at first then your skin feels much more oily than normal, but don’t worry it will absorb into your skin fairly quickly, getting rid of that shiny appearance.
When getting your first jar of coconut oil there are a few things that you want to look for. First off, make sure you are getting the extra-virgin version that is not hydrogenated, bleached, or refined at all. Basically you want the normal run of the mill virgin coconut oil. Any refining or various products incorporated will just get rid of the many benefits of coconut oil.
If you haven’t already used coconut oil on your skin go ahead and try it! It can really make a difference and improve the quality of your skin.
